Vince Giamformaggio

From The Third Turn, a Wikia wiki

Vince Giamformaggio is a former NASCAR driver from Sante Fe Springs, CA. In his brief career, Giamformaggio competed in five Nextel Cup events, all in the state of California.

Giamformaggio made his debut at Ontario Motor Speedway, driving the #39 Cal-French Bread Chevy into the field with a 32nd place effort. Giamformaggio's race ended scarily on lap ninety-six, when a fire erupted inside the engine. Giamformaggio escaped, but was left with a 33rd place in his first career race.

Giamformaggio returned in 1978, racing this time at Riverside International Raceway with the #39. Giamformaggio grabbed a career best 17th place start on the road course, but once again had engine issues. This time, overheating left him 29th on the field.

Giamformaggio's best season was in 1979, when he competed in both Cup events at Riverside. Even better, Giamformaggio ran a solid race in January and came home with a career-best 13th place finish, six laps off the pace. He was not so fortunate in the summer race, when engine failure left him 37th.

Giamformaggio's last race came again at Riverside, qualifying Henley Gray's #19 into the field 31st. Giamformaggio was able to pull a 20th out of the deal in the race, meaning he would have two top-twenties in his five starts. Giamformaggio has not raced since.
