Porter's debut came in 1997, when he competed at Walt Disney. Starting 4th in the field of thirty-six, Porter slipped back in the race and finished 22nd. But he rebounded nicely after that, finishing his season out with an 11th place run at Tuscon and a career-best 9th place showing at Phoenix.
Porter's final two series races came in the 1998 schedule, when Porter drove for the new Tyler Jet Motorsports team. Starting 7th in his season opener at Texas, Porter crashed out of the event late and finished 23rd. Porter also qualified well in at the Milwaukee Mile, starting 4th and actually racing well to finish 16th.
[edit] Busch Series
Porter's Busch start came in 2003, when he competed at Daytona. Starting 31st in the field of forty-three, Porter completed all but one lap in route to a respectable 26th place effort.
