Tim Sauter is a veteran of the NASCAR Busch Series. Tim started racing Busch Series races in 2000. He ran for rookie of the year in 2001, competing in 18 races. He ran full-time in 2002 in an unsponsored car, and finished 13th in points. Since 2003, Tim has ran only a handful of races each year, due to lack of funding. Tim has run a total of 80 Nationwide Series races, 2 Sprint Cup races, and 3 Craftsman Truck Series races. He has scored 9 top tens in his Busch series career. He currently drives the #36 Lester Buildings Chevrolet for McGill Motorsports, formerly DCT Motorsports, in the majority of the races in 2006. He will not be back with the team in 2007.

Tim has two brothers who are also NASCAR drivers: Jay Sauter and Johnny Sauter. His father Jim Sauter is a retired NASCAR veteran.
