Ray Miller is a retired
NASCAR Modified driver from
East Granby, CT. His career spanned 22 years over 3 different modified eras, from the Coupes, through the
Pinto Revolution, and coming to an end during the beginning of the
Cavalier era. Miller scored 27 career wins driving modifieds, and had one
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Victory during his career, during the Budweiser 100 at the
Waterford Speedbowl in 1985. His most prestigious victory came in the 1981 Thompson 300, where he beat
Geoffrey Bodine and
Jimmy Spencer for the win. Along with his Thompson 300 win, he visited victory lane at the 1978 World Series, giving him 2 wins at Thompson. In addition to the victories at Thompson and Waterford, Ray had 14 wins at
Stafford Motor Speedway, including 3 straight Ferrara 100 wins during the early 1980's, as well as 10 career wins at the now defunct
Riverside Park Speedway. Through his career he drove for well known owners such as Mike Greci, Simons Racing, and Curt Chase. Ray currently spends his time supporting his son Jay Miller's Racing efforts. Jay Miller runs SK Modifieds at the
Waterford Speedbowl.
