[edit] Racing Career

At age 25, Peyton Sellers has been racing competitively for 18 years, moving rapidly through the ranks of racing. Peyton has over 30 wins and over 50 poles at NASCAR sanctioned tracks.

Beginning with go-karts at age seven in the Virginia/Carolina area, he was competing in the open wheel mini sprints by age 13. where he collected 11 feature wins in his first 20 races. He attended Mike Loesher's Finish Line Racing School at Martinsville Speedway at age 15, receiving the Rookie of the Year award in the Super Stock Division at South Boston Speedway that same year.

Peyton moved to Orange County Speedway in 2000, where he competed in the Limited Sportsman Division, winning 3 poles and 6 feature races and again gaining Rookie of the year honors for this division. 2001 saw Peyton score 11 feature wins en-route to winning the Orange County Sportsman Track Championship.

In 2002, Sellers moved up once again, this time to the Late Model Stock Car Division at South Boston Speedway, capturing Rookie of the year in this highly competitive division. The team then traveled to many different tracks in 2003, gaining experience across the Southeast and preparing themselves for a challenge to the national title. Sellers made his debut in the ARCA series in 2004.

By 2005, with a strong experience base and a strong crew, Peyton was red hot on the track. In 28 starts, Peyton visited Victory Lane 15 times securing him the title of NASCAR Whelen All-American National Champion. Peyton is the youngest driver ever to acquire the title.

This distinction landed him a seat with Richard Childress Racing's driver development program for the 2006 season, for which he drove the no. 16 Napa Autoparts Chevrolet for Bill McAnally Racing in the NASCAR Camping World Series West in 2006, and was named Rookie of the Year. Sellers finished fifth in total points. The team also had two starts in the widely televised NASCAR Nationwide Series.

In 2007, Peyton cam back East to race with Sellers Racing and Peyton's brother, the noted H.C. Sellers, in the position of crew chief. The team finished 3rd in points in the NASCAR Camping World Series East. The team headed back west for the Toyota All-Star Showdown in which Peyton finished 2nd in the 250 lap event in a field of 40 cars.

After an outstanding 2007 season, Peyton joined on the 4 time NASCAR Camping World Series East Champion, Andy Santerre for the 2008 season. he finished the season 8th overall points standings, with a series high 3 poles. Peyton again came close to taking the win at the Toyota All-Star Showdown, with Jig-A-Loo as his sponsor, when a last lap spin out, while in the lead, made him finish 13th.

The announcement came in December of 2008 that Sellers would run a limited Nationwide Series schedule in 2009 with Cardinal Motorsports. Sellers is part owner of Cardinal motorsports, alongside Will Spencer of JKS Motorsports and Ed Berrier.

In January Cardinal Motorsports announced a ten race NASCAR Nationwide sponsorship with SFP.
