Paul Newkirk is a former NASCAR driver from Cedar Rapids, IA. He competed in three Nextel Cup Series events in his career, earning one top-ten.
Newkirk's debut came in 1951, when he competed at Detroit. Despite starting 38th in the deep field, Newkirk drove towards the front, completed all but nine laps, and wound up with a spectacular 5th place finish.
Newkirk's next race was back in Detroit in 1952, but failed to recapture any of his previous success. Starting 27th in the field, Newkirk only completed twenty-seven laps this go round and wound up with a 43rd place finish.
Newkirk's final race came in 1953, when he competed at Davenport. Despite being a native Iowan, Newkirk struggled in the race, his 13th place finish being offset by the fact that only fourteen cars even competed.
