Miller debuted in 1980, when he competed at Charlotte. Starting 13th in the large forty-one car field, Miller had an early engine problem in the event and struggled to a 39th place finish. He only marginally improved in his other race during the year, as overheating issues left him 28th at Atlanta.
Miller returned to the circuit nine years later in 1989, competing at Michigan, but couldn't find any improvement in his results. Starting 37th in the field, Miller lasted half the race before fatigue set in and he retired to a 34th place finish.
