Jolly debuted in 1978, running the #28 Ski Machine Chevy in three races. The best run he would have would be in his NASCAR debut, starting 26th at Daytona and finishing in 20th, nine laps down. DNFs would occur in the other two races, finishing 40th and 36th in the pair of Charlotte races.
Jolly returned to the track in 1979, running a one-race deal at Talladega. Starting 32nd in the field, Jolly managed a 22nd place effort despite having a mid-race engine failure.
