Neal made his debut in 1994, when he drove three races for the #1 Luxaire Racing team, beginning at Loudon. He did a good job qualifying, getting in tenth. However, early engine failure led the team to a 44th (last) place finish. In fact, engine problems would take Neal out of his othe two races as well. He was 32nd at Nazareth and 34th at Dover.
Neal returned to the series for the season finale of 1996 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, driving a car owned by Ron Neal. (unknown if any relation) Regular driver Todd Bodine, drove a second Neal car and Jeff Neal drove Bodine's normal #81 Chevy. He started 35th and finished 34th, once again falling out to engine problems.
