Jay Sauter (born January 22, 1962 in Necedah, Wisconsin) is a NASCAR driver. He currently drives the #01 Western Union Chevrolet Monte Carlo for Duesenberg & Leik Motorsports in the Busch Series. Jay Sauter is the son of former NASCAR driver Jim Sauter, and the brother of fellow NASCAR Busch Series drivers Tim Sauter and Johnny Sauter.

NASCAR career[]

Sauter's first race in the main three NASCAR series, the Florida Dodge Dealers 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, came during the 1996 Craftsman Truck Series season. For the next three years he would race full time in the series, finishing in the top-six all three times. He moved up to the Busch Series in 2000 and finished 16th. The following year he would finish 19th, and it would also turn out to be his last full-time season in any of the main NASCAR series for the next four years. Sauter participated in only thirty-one Busch Series events and four Craftsman Truck Series races from 2002-2005. He returned to NASCAR full-time in 2006, signing with Deusenberg & Leik Motorsports to race in the Busch Series again. He currently shares driving duties with team co-owner Dwayne Leik.
