Jarit Johnson is a NASCAR driver from El Cajon, CA. He competed in two Craftsman Truck Series events in his career and in 2008 debuted in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Memphis Motorsports Park. Jarit Johnson is the brother of Jimmie Johnson. There is a also a race car driver named Jerrick Johnson, but there no relation to the Johnson family.
Johnson debuted in 2005, racing at Richmond. Starting 32nd in the race, Johnson completed all but two laps at the short track and came home with a respectable 25th place finish. Johnson was unfortunately unable to improve upon that at Martinsville, as a brake issue caused him many laps and he finished 28th. Johnson spent his two races with Green Light Racing, which is a low budget race team.
Unlike his older brother Jarit Johnson has spent much of his driving career in late models on short track around Southern California and North Carolina. Johnson gained much attention after winning 12 races in 3 seasons, with 4 poles at the famous Hickory Motor Speedway. Legendary driver Ned Jarrett once commented that anyone who can win at Hickory that often is very talented and could win anywhere.
