Dick Kranzler

From The Third Turn, a Wikia wiki

Dick Kranzler (November 26, 1938 - ) is a former NASCAR driver from Santa Susana, CA. He competed in nine Sprint Cup Series events in his career.

Kranzler's debut came in 1970, when he competed at Riverside. Starting 28th in the field of forty-four, Kranzler just kept his nose clean and stayed out of trouble in route to a respectable 18th place finish.

Kranzler stepped it up to a three-race schedule for the 1971 season, competing in the West Coast Winston Cup-Winston West combination events. He ran extremely well in his return to Riverside in January, driving his way to a career-best 14th place finish. Unfortunately, his other two starts that year would be a struggle. Mechanical woes left him 48th at Ontario and 23rd at Riverside.

Kranzler also competed in three races during the 1972 tour, when the driver piloted his way to a career-best 68th place finish in the final points. The good news for Kranzler for the year that he was running at the finish of all three of his starts. The bad news was that the results weren't there: finishing a midpack 23rd at Riverside, a miserable 37th at Ontario, and salvaging the year with a respectable 16th place run in the June Riverside race.

Kranzler decided to scale it back down to just one start during the 1973 season, electing to compete in the June Riverside event. It was another midpack showing for the driver, falling a number of laps down and winding up 25th.

Kranzler's last career race would come quite a while later, when he made a return at Riverside in June 1979. Driving his own equipment, Kranzler lasted just twenty-three laps before a transmission issue derailed his efforts and left him 29th.
