Dave Blaney (born October 24, 1962) is a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver of the #66 Toyota for Prism Motorsports. Blaney is most famous for his sprint car exploits as well as other success on dirt tracks. For many years, he was a regular in the Syracuse Nationals in Syracuse, New York, although he never won that event.

[edit] World of Outlaws career

Blaney began racing in the World of Outlaws (WoO) in 1992, and won the Championship in 1995. When he moved into NASCAR, he kept his team going, fielding a car for his brother Dale and the late Kevin Gobrecht.

[edit] NASCAR career

Blaney made his NASCAR Winston Cup debut in the #80 Daffron's Body Shop Ford owned by Stan Hover of Fowler, Ohio at the 1992 AC Delco 500, finishing 31st. Six years later, he caught the eye of Bill Davis of Bill Davis Racing, and he signed to drive a Busch Series car for Davis, the #93 Amoco (Blaney's WoO trademark) Pontiac. His debut season was impressive, as he garned three sixth-place finishes and a pole position at Lowe's Motor Speedway. 1999 was even better, when his pole total rose to four and he climbed up to seventh place in the final points standings. In 2000, he and his Amoco team moved up to Winston Cup, posting two-top tens and finishing third in the NASCAR Winston Cup Rookie of the Year award standings. After coming close to victory in 2001, he left BDR because of sponsorship concerns and signed with #77 Ford provided by Jasper Motorsports. Blaney had a total of nine top tens and a pole in this ride, but he never got to victory lane. After being unemployed for the first half of 2004, he hooked on with Richard Childress Racing (RCR) in the middle of the season, before being replaced by Jeff Burton. In 2005 he resumed his association with RCR for the full season. In 2006 he returned to the Bill Davis stable to run the #22 Caterpillar Dodge.

Also this season, Blaney will return to Busch Series competition driving the #32 Chevrolet for Braun-Akins Racing. Blaney debuted with the team at Lowe's Motor Speedway in May and finished 15th in the #32 ABF U-Pack Chevrolet. He won his first career Nascar race at the Lowe's motor speedway in October
