2004 Nextel Cup Season was the fifty-fifth NASCAR Cup season began with the Daytona 500 on February 15 and ended with the Ford 400 on November 21. The champion was Kurt Busch (#97-Ford) with just 8 points ahead of Jimmie Johnson (#48-Chevrolet). Nextel replaced Winston as series sponsor.
