</center> The 2000 O'Reilly 400 was a Craftsman Truck Series event held at Texas Motor Speedway on October 13, 2000. Bryan Reffner won his only series event, holding off Andy Houston by 1.3 seconds. Greg Biffle (25th), meanwhile, clinched the 2000 championship, leaving the track with a 250-point lead over rookie teammate Kurt Busch (3rd). But there was no celebration. Driver Tony Roper was fatally injured on lap 31, dying a few hours later.

Qualifying notes

Race winner Bryan Reffner was the pole winner, qualifying at 180 mph. Texas native David Starr, driving in a one-race deal for TKO Motorsports, started on the outside pole. Eventual champion Greg Biffle started third.
The following drivers failed to qualify for the race: Morgan Shepherd (#80), Bobby Dotter (#45), Wayne Edwards (#93), Ron Barfield (#97), Carl Long (#32), Jay Stewart (#33), Richie Hearn (#23), Gene Christensen (#92)

- Biffle's championship was the first NASCAR championship for Roush Racing.
- Roper's wreck occured when several trucks crashed off of Turn 4. Roper was clipped by Steve Grissom and crashed head-on into the wall in the tri-oval. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead the next day.
