The Race::1989 Banquet Frozen Foods 300 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) - Winston West Series (now ) combination event held at Track::Infineon Raceway on June 11, 1989. This was the first time that the Winston Cup Series held an event at Infineon Raceway. Ricky Rudd won his only race of the year, leading 61 of 74 laps in route to a 1.1 second victory over Rusty Wallace in what many consider one of the greatest road course battles in Nascar history. The race saw an unusual accident when Mark Martin left the pits with the lug nuts loose on the right rear tire. While under caution Martin spun off into the tire barrier in turn 1 rolling his car very gently on his roof before running back to the pits. Martin would only loose a few laps and actually finished the race. Dale Earnhardt finished 4th to take a 109-marker championship lead on Darrell Waltrip (38th).
