The 1983 Marty Robbins 420 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at Nashville Speedway USA on May 7, 1983. Darrell Waltrip dominated the race, leading 382 of the 420 laps and holding off Bobby Allison by one lap and four seconds for the victory. Harry Gant finished 3rd to hold a six-point championship edge on Allison. The race was named in memory of Marty Robbins, a NASCAR driver, country music singer-songwriter, and actor who died of a heart attack. Stats
