The 1963 Volunteer 500 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held at Bristol Motor Speedway on July 28, 1963. Fred Lorenzen dominated the event, leading 336 of the 500 laps in route to a three-second victory on Richard Petty. Eventual season champ Joe Weatherly finished 6th.
