1949 Strickly Stock Season was inaugural first season of the Cup series, began with the 1949-01 on June 19 at Charlotte Speedway and ended with the 1949 Wilkes 200 on October 14 at North Wilkesboro Speedway. The season was 8 races long with Red Byron becoming the first ever champion (in the #22-Oldsmobile) with 842 points and Lee Petty finishing second with 725 points.
